Why Combine Leadership and Cold Brew?
At Fifty5 Rivers, we believe in pursuing what we’re passionate about and creating something extraordinary. For us, that meant combining entrepreneurial leadership with cold brew coffee into a social enterprise that’s as unique as it is meaningful.
So, why the name Fifty5 Rivers? The story begins with water—cold brew coffee is made up of over 98% water, making it an essential part of every sip. But water also holds deeper meaning for us. Much like leadership, water embodies qualities we admire: adaptability, transparency, persistence, and humility. Inspired by the concept of “wateristic” leadership, as outlined by Chen and Lee (2007), we built our values on these traits.
We wanted our name to reflect this philosophy. The “55” in Fifty5 Rivers symbolizes the harmony of these leadership traits and our five core values, while “Rivers” represents forward movement and the dynamic flow of life. Together, they define who we are: a family-owned business driven by passion, purpose, and progress.
Who We Are – More about Fifty5 Rivers
Fifty5 Rivers is more than a company—it’s a family. Co-founders James and Lynne have been partners in life and business since the mid-90s. With two grown children and years of entrepreneurial experience, they’ve built a foundation of resilience, creativity, and leadership.
James has spent decades empowering others through entrepreneurial leadership. His early involvement with Teen Institute, a youth leadership and prevention program, instilled values that continue to shape his journey. As a small business owner and mentor, James emphasizes communication, commitment, and self-awareness—qualities that drive success in life and business.
Lynne complements James’ vision with her own unique expertise. As a former child therapist and sales consultant, she’s mastered the art of listening, empathizing, and empowering others to embrace their potential. Her leadership shines in the everyday moments, whether managing a business or supporting her family.
Together, James and Lynne have cultivated a spirit of entrepreneurship that’s deeply rooted in their family. Their children, who have grown up participating in the family’s ventures, are active contributors to Fifty5 Rivers, embodying the leadership values the brand was founded on.
